Joint Press Statement issued by Central Trade Unions

New Delhi: 14-9-2012: The Central Trade Unions strongly condemn the action of the Central Govt. allowing the steep rise in the price of Diesel and partially withdrawing the so called subsidy on LPG.  The increase in price of Diesel will have cascading effect on prices of essential commodities including food, Vegetable and transport.  It will make the life of ordinary people more miserable who are already reeling under the burden of soaring prices. The monthly budget of millions of people will be imbalanced due to withdrawal of subsidy on LPG beyond 6 cylinders in a year.

The Govt. instead of mobilising resources from rich corporate, who have capacity to pay, has pushed the entire burden on the ordinary people.  It has been done after steep increase in water and electricity charges by State Governments.

The Central Trade Unions demand withdrawal of the increase in diesel price and curtailing of subsidy on LPG. They have called upon their State constituents and unions all over the country to immediately organise protest demonstrations, rallies, dharna, etc to exhibit their protest against the Govt’s decision and demand immediate roll back of the hike.
